Site Work & Excavation Questions, Answered

Straight answers about what Brown Bros. does, where we work, and how to get a project started across Chattanooga, North Georgia, and the Southeast.

Brown Bros., Inc. does. We are a Chattanooga-based civil construction and excavation contractor that handles the mass excavation, grading, pad preparation, utilities, and stormwater work data center construction depends on. We have prepared sites for major manufacturing and industrial projects across Tennessee, North Georgia, and the wider Southeast, and we mobilize for mission-critical data center projects in markets like Atlanta, Huntsville, Knoxville, and Nashville.

A site work contractor takes raw land and makes it ready to build on. That means clearing the property, moving and shaping the dirt with excavation and grading, installing underground utilities and drainage, controlling erosion, and putting in access roads and paving. Brown Bros. self-performs all of it, so one crew is accountable for the site from the first cut to final grade.

Brown Bros. is headquartered in East Ridge, just outside Chattanooga, and works throughout Southeast Tennessee and North Georgia, including Cleveland, Dalton, and Ringgold. For large-scale data center and industrial projects, we mobilize across the region to metros like Atlanta, Knoxville, Nashville, Birmingham, and Huntsville.

Excavation is digging and moving earth, including hauling it off, cutting it down, and trenching for utilities and foundations. Grading is shaping that earth to the right slopes and elevations so the site drains correctly and sits on stable ground. Most projects need both, and Brown Bros. handles them together using GPS-guided equipment.

From a one-acre commercial pad to a 100-acre industrial development. We run a fleet of more than 100 machines with crews experienced on major manufacturing and mission-critical sites, so we can scale up for large data center and industrial projects without leaning on outside equipment.

Yes. Data center site work is a core focus for us. These projects move fast and run on tight, capital-intensive schedules, and they need a site contractor who can coordinate with engineers, general contractors, and utility crews while keeping mass grading, drainage, and pad preparation on track. That is the kind of heavy civil work Brown Bros. is built for.

Brothers Britt and Tripp Brown founded Brown Bros., Inc. in 1997, building on more than 40 years of family experience in construction that started with their father's company. What began with one dump truck and a bulldozer is now a team of over 100 employees and machines serving the Chattanooga region and the Southeast.

Yes. We clear wooded and overgrown property with tree and brush removal, grubbing, and debris handling, then prepare it for grading and construction. Clearing is usually the first step in our turnkey site development work across Chattanooga and North Georgia.

Yes. We install water, sanitary sewer, storm drainage, and conduit and duct banks, including trenching, bedding, and tie-ins. We coordinate utility work with the rest of the site so it is placed right the first time and does not have to be dug up later.

Because they get one accountable, full-service partner with the equipment and crews to deliver. Brown Bros. self-performs clearing, excavation, grading, utilities, and paving, has a track record on major commercial and industrial projects, and has built a reputation across the Chattanooga region for finishing on time and on budget.
