Project · Utility & Site Work

River North

Brown Bros., Inc. is handling utility and storm drain site work at River North, off the access road from Birmingham Road in Chattanooga, TN. The job runs 13,200 linear feet of sewer main and 6,800 linear feet of storm drain, alongside mass grading that has moved 320,000 cubic yards of material.

The Challenge

Wet utilities set the schedule on a site like this. Sewer main and storm drain have to go in at grade, at depth, and in the right sequence — before the mass grading above them can be finished and the site handed off.

River North pairs nearly 20,000 linear feet of buried pipe with 320,000 cubic yards of earthwork, which means the utility crews and the dirt crews have to stay coordinated across the whole site rather than working around each other.

What Brown Bros. Did

  • 13,200 linear feet of sewer main installed
  • 6,800 linear feet of storm drain installed
  • Mass grading and excavation — 320,000 cubic yards of material moved
  • Trenching, bedding, and backfill for the full wet-utility system
  • Site development work coordinated around the utility sequence

The Result

Mass grading is wrapping up now, with the sewer and storm systems in the ground. Brandon Dusevic leads the storm drain crew and Steve Elledge leads the sewer crew — both longtime Brown Bros. hands running their own scopes on the same site.

Having one contractor self-perform both the wet utilities and the earthwork is what keeps a job like River North on sequence. Check back for updates and jobsite photos as the project wraps.
